Jerry Juergens was born in Huntington, Indiana.  Jerry has a twin brother George, who both became Eagle Scouts.  The brothers often led other boys in songs and campfire tales, which instilled a love of storytelling at a young age.

Jerry married his wife Mary, and they have been married for 50 years and have two sons.  Together they were youth counselors at their church for over ten years, and again Jerry would tell them bedtime stories.
